Admissions Information/Assistance

The Admissions Committee will review any new applications throughout the school year. Decisions will be announced by the committee once the application process is complete. If your child is being considered for enrollment, they must successfully pass a pre-admission test administered by Sunrise Academy BEFORE they can be accepted. 

​Admission Criteria:
Students at Sunrise Academy will be expected to achieve academically to the best of their individual ability. No child, whose parents desire to enroll him/her in Sunrise Academy, shall be denied admission to the school on the basis of religious affiliation, race, color, gender or national origin.

The Admissions Committee of the school reviews all applications. The Admissions Committee, in determining enrollment priority of the students, will examine the following criteria:

Preschool
  • Must be 3 years of age by September 30th for the 3 year old class
  • Must be 4 years of age by September 30th for the 4 year old class
  • Must be potty trained
  • Children of staff members, siblings of current students will receive priority enrollment
  • Must take a Pre-K diagnostic assessment
  • Interview with the Pre-K Director
Kindergarten
  • Must be 5 years of age by September 30th no exceptions.
  • Must be potty trained.
  • Children of staff members, siblings of current students, and Sunrise Academy Pre-K students will receive priority enrollment.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-admission exam administered by Sunrise Academy with scores that meet Sunrise Academy standards for admission.
  • Family interview (excluding children of staff, siblings of current students, and Sunrise Academy Pre-K students).
1st Grade through 8th Grade
  • Must have an acceptable level of English communication skills.
  • Academic level must meet expectations of current grade level curriculum.
  • Must not have had any pattern of disciplinary problems at other schools.
  • Children of staff members and siblings of current students will receive priority enrollment.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-admission exam administered by Sunrise Academy with scores that meet Sunrise Academy standards for admission.
  • Family interview (excluding children of staff, siblings of current students, and Sunrise Academy Pre-K students).

Requirements for Tuition Assistance

Tuition Assistance Policy – Adopted July 2014

Tuition assistance may be requested at any time during the year and must be renewed annually. Families must meet all the following requirements before their application for tuition assistance can be considered by the Sunrise Academy Finance Committee.
  • Any tuition balance not paid for the previous year must be brought current before the application can be considered.
  • Assistance will be considered for tuition only, and does not include other fees, such as material fees or gym fees.
  • The finance committee shall use the current copy of the Income Requirements from the Edchoice Office of the Ohio Department of Education when evaluating the previous year’s tax returns and paystubs.
  • Discounts shall be as follows:
    • A 25 percent discount on tuition shall be granted for families whose income is 200 percent or below the federal poverty guidelines.
    • A 15 percent discount on tuition shall be granted for families whose income is 200 percent to 300 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
    • A 5 percent discount on tuition shall be granted for families whose income is 300 percent to 400 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
    • No discount shall be given to families whose income is above 400 percent of the federal poverty guidelines unless a special circumstance exists.
If any special circumstance exists that would warrant special consideration outside the guidelines above (such as loss of employment), families must make this information known to the committee with their application. The committee reserves the right to verify all information received. However, at no time will a discount above 25 percent be granted by the committee.  Tuition assistant applications are provided by the main office at the time the contract is signed.
