Admissions Information/Assistance

The Admissions Committee will review any new applications throughout the school year. Decisions will be announced by the committee once the application process is complete. If your child is being considered for enrollment, they must successfully pass a pre-admission requirements or test administered by Sunrise Academy BEFORE they can be accepted. 

​Admission Criteria:
Students at Sunrise Academy will be expected to achieve academically to the best of their individual ability. No child, whose parents desire to enroll him/her in Sunrise Academy, shall be denied admission to the school on the basis of religious affiliation, race, color, gender or national origin.

The Admissions Committee of the school reviews all applications. The Admissions Committee, in determining enrollment priority of the students, will examine the following criteria:

Preschool:
  • Must be 3 years of age by September 30th for the 3 year old class
  • Must be 4 years of age by September 30th for the 4 year old class
  • Must be potty trained
  • Children of staff members, siblings of current students will receive priority enrollment
  •  
  • Interview with the Pre-K Director
 
Kindergarten and 1st grade:
  • Must be 5 years of age by September 30th no exceptions.
  • Must have an acceptable level of English communication skills.
  • Academic level must meet expectations of current grade level curriculum.
  • Children of staff members, siblings of current students, and Sunrise Academy Pre-K students will receive priority enrollment.
  • Reading and Math Exam: Must successfully complete an in-person pre-admission reading and math exam administered by Sunrise Academy with scores that meet Sunrise Academy standards for admission. 
  • Family interview: Family interviews will be conducted and scheduled virtually through Google Meet. Children of staff, siblings of current students, and Sunrise Academy Pre-K students are excluded from Family Interviews. 
 
2nd Grade through 10th Grade:
  • Must have an acceptable level of English communication skills.
  • Academic level must meet expectations of current grade level curriculum.
  • Must not have had any pattern of disciplinary problems at other schools.
  • Children of staff members and siblings of current students will receive priority enrollment.
  • Academic Report Card: Must provide most recent report card for the current grade level 
  • Ohio State Testing: Must provide most recent state testing reports (3rd-10th ONLY). 
  • Letter of Recommendation:
    • 2nd-5th: Must provide one letter of recommendation from an educator at the current school of enrollment. 
    • 6th-10th: Must provide two letter of recommendation from an educator at the current school of enrollment. 
  • Family interview: Family interviews will be conducted and scheduled virtually through Google Meet. Children of staff, siblings of current students, and Sunrise Academy Pre-K students are excluded from Family Interviews.
