Miss Dena Elgeziri (5th Grade)
Hello! My name is Dena Elgeziri and I have wanted to become a teacher for as long as I can remember. I have been working with children of all ages since the age of eighteen, and have loved every minute of it. I have had the pleasure of teaching 5th grade at Sunrise Academy for the past 4 years. I also taught 6th and 7th grades in my previous years at Sunrise along with 5th grade. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Middle Childhood Education in 2011 at The Ohio State University and my Master's Degree also from The Ohio State University. GO BUCKS!!! My concentration areas are Language Arts and Social studies, grades 4-9.
Teaching how fun and interesting learning can be is my goal every day in the classroom. I have always loved new and creative ways to engage students in learning in order to become lifetime learners, whether it is role playing, a school play, or even creating a surprise mannequin challenge out of a lesson for the student body. My goal for every student is to help them realize that they can do or be anything they want to be as long as they put in their full effort. I always count on the strong partnership between home and school in order to make sure students grow to their full potential. I am passionate about each and every one of my kiddos, and I strive to be a great role model for them, as well as to make a positive impact on their lives.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also love traveling and learning different languages, especially the Spanish language. It is such a beautiful language, and I try to learn new words every day. Maybe one day I will become trilingual. :) Egypt is one of the main places I visit often, especially since my extended family lives there. It is such a fascinating country, especially from my perspective as a Social Studies teacher.
I look forward to spending this year with your children, and cannot wait to see how far they come by the end of the year!
